Tumblr and Duke Nukem

While waiting for the next episode of Life in Hex (slated for release the day Duke Nukem Forever comes out), you can check out Jalada’s Tumblr to follow what he’s up to on the web.

  • Housekeeping:
    • We recorded the show on Skype, because we couldn’t get together for the show.
    • Things are A-OK on the site. The forum is quiet, but IRC is alive and well. still need to make a web-based IRC client on the site for people.
    • Jalada has sort of revived his Vox.
  • Life:
    • The show was recorded before Christmas, so we talk about what we were hoping to get (I believe we both got what we wanted).
    • We have a chat about how University life is treating us both, and have a chat about FragSoc, the LAN gaming society at York University.
    • Sefran bought a collection of CDs from The Clintons, a Life in Hex favourite!
    • Mountain Dew is now Sef’s drink of choice! Plugs to the site at the bottom of the notes.
  • Gaming:
  • Tech:
    • Jalada talks about MojoPac, it’s uses and it’s faults. And also briefly talks about his new IcyBox.
    • We discuss the AMD Phenom processors, and the AMD Spider platform. We talk a bit about AMD and how they are targeting the enthusiast market.
  • Anime:
    • Sefran reviews the anime Clannad, and overall gives it 8/10.
    • On the 22nd and 23rd of December, it was Jump Fest 2008.
  • Plugs + Shouts:

Sefran and I have recorded a bumper edition of Life in Hex (which shall be known formally as Episode 43) over Skype. Although it’s a ‘Christmas Special’, it probably wont be released until sometime into January.

Stay tuned though :)

I said a while ago I was going to do it, but I never got around to it. But now I have. Here are a couple of text files that simply contain a list of all the episodes in either high quality or low quality. Both of them have the same version of the first 5 episodes because they never had two versions, only one. Also the low quality one still contains a couple of supplemental episodes that weren’t made into low quality. So using either of these files will get you every single episode, even though not every episode had a low quality file. Aren’t I good :)

Enjoy! And thanks for listening

Hi-Quality MP3 list
Low-Quality MP3 list

How can I use these?
I recommend you try using wget for Linux. There’s also plenty of compiled versions for Windows to choose from. Wget can parse these files just simply using wget -i episodelist[high|low].txt (obviously use high or low depending on which one you have!) in the directory you have the text file. Wget will download all the episodes into that folder. YMMV using other programs, but anything that can import a download queue should be fine!

Wordpress 2.3

Just a quick post to say that we have updated to Wordpress 2.3 on Life in Hex. Yes, we’re still keeping up to date with the site! There may be a couple of changes coming this way soon related to IRC. I think I mentioned on episode 42 about how there’s no easy way to find the information to get onto IRC, nor to get on IRC itself. So I’m probably going to put on a Java IRC Client to make it easier for people to check IRC out.

As always, please contact us if you spot any bugs. Sometimes they appear after a Wordpress upgrade.

Edit: Already found a bug, the extended live archives aren’t working properly at the moment. I’m working on it.
Edit number 2: OK, I’ve kinda fixed ELA. However on the episodes page there is an error message at the top of the page, but otherwise it works OK. I’ve just used a patch from before 2.3 was released, so no doubt there are still some things changed. I’ll keep my eye open for a new version of ELA.
